First United Methodist Church Preschool is a Christian
preschool with classes for 3 year olds and 4/5 year olds.

We strive to help children acquire readiness for kindergarten in our classes using:

• Units of study (dinosaurs, farm life, fire safety, holidays, etc.)

• Circle time

• Art activities

• Games for developing listening and following direction skills

• Music

• Center play (blocks, books, housekeeping, developmental table toys, etc.)

• Science experiments

• Academic exposure

• Fine and gross motor skill development

• Outdoor play

• Field trips

FUMC Preschool Objectives

• To develop self-awareness, expression and communication skills

• To develop reasoning and problem solving skills

• To build self-esteem through self-direction, self-discipline and independence

• To develop fine and gross motor skills

• To provide hands-on experiences in the area of language arts, math, science, social studies, music and art

• To insure that sound health habits are practiced

• To aid children in gaining concepts and ideas so that the transition to kindergarten in public school will be made easier

Our preschool teachers are experinced loving teachers. They are required to have been certified to teach Pre-K through elementary school grades.
